Marcy has been a professional writer for more than 30 years. She writes careers, employment tips, political issues, how to earn money as writer, the environment, travel and a variety of other topics. Her hub, 10 Great Ways to Make Money as a Writer won a HubNugget award in February, 2012.

Her publishing credits include the Austin American-Statesman, AW Magazine (formerly Austin Woman Magazine), Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul 2, the Texas Observer, Reader's Digest and many others. She has published more than 600 articles in newspapers and magazines, and her work has also appeared in online outlets.

In addition to her writing background, as a Management and Communications Consultant she works with private firms and clients in Texas and other states. She has developed communications plans, conducted high-profile news conferences and successfully placed hundreds of stories in major news outlets across the United States and in international markets.

Marcy has held senior management positions at the State Bar of Texas, TxDOT, the Unversity of Texas at Austin and other major agencies.  During her career, she also served as clinic administrator at the David Powell HIV Clinic and other large healthcare facilities in Austin, Texas. Her work has included Legislative and Media Relations at the local, state and national level, and her public relations and communications strategies have won several honors and awards.

She has a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Studies and is an adjunct faculty member at Park University's Austin Campus Center. In addition, she is a trained mediator with credentials in civil and family dispute resolution and serves as a complaint resolution and ethics review consultant for IntegReview Ethical Review Board in Austin.

In her spare time, she enjoys travel, music (piano and vocal), camping, photography and donating her time to volunteer work.  Her two children, who are grown, have provided her with some amazing essay stories.  But she loves them anyway!
